『 21 이는 그때에 대환란이 있으리니, 그와 같은 것은 세상이 시작된 이후로 지금까지 없었으며, 또 결코 없을 것이기 때문이라. 22 만일 그 날들이 단축되지 아니하면 어떤 육체도 구원받지 못하리라. 그러나 택함받은 사람들을 위하여 그 날들이 단축될 것이라. 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. 』 (마태복음 24：21, 22) 『 28 우리는 그분 안에서 살고 움직이며 존재하느니라. 너희 시인 중에 어떤 이들도 말한 바와 같이 우리도 그분의 자손이라 하였으니 29 우리가 하나님의 자손이라면 사람의 기술과 고안으로 주조한 금이나 은이나 돌이 하나님의 신격과 같다고 생각지는 말아야 할 것이라. 30 이 무지의 때에는 하나님께서 눈감아 주셨으나 이제는 어디에 살고 있는 어떤 사람에게도 회개하라고 명령하고 계시니라. 31 이는 하나님께서 선정하신 그 사람을 통하여 의로 세상을 심판하실 한 날을 정해 놓으시고 그를 죽은 자들로부터 살리시어 모든 사람에게 확증해 주셨음이라.”고 하니라. 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. 』 (사도행전 17：28∼31)
